Hi, I'm Erin

As we prepare to set goals for the new year that is upon us, there is one thing you should consider adding to your marketing strategy: a blog! While some may think blogging is a thing of the past, one thing is certain. Blogging is NOT dead. I have a lot of experience with blogging dating back to 2011. As a former travel/wellness blogger I spent over a decade refining and learning about the ins and outs of what makes a blog successful. After graduating I went on to work for a number of tech companies to support their content creation and blogging strategy for an additional six years. So, I’ve learned a thing or two, and I want to share this with you. In this post, we’ll explore the magic behind blogging and learn five compelling reasons why starting a blog is something you should seriously consider this year.

1. Drive More Traffic to Your Website

Did you know that websites with blogs attract a whopping 55% more traffic than websites that don’t have a blog? Your blog isn’t just a platform; it’s a traffic magnet. Every post is an invitation for potential clients to discover your business. And you should consider adding a call to action at the end of each post to direct your audience where to go next –whether that be signing up for a free resource, checking out another post, signing up for your mailing list, etc. By offering them a next step you will turn passive visitors into an engaged audience, and eventually a potential customer.

2. Grow Your Audience and Increase Conversions

Blogging goes beyond providing information; it is a strategic move within a broader content strategy for your business. Well-crafted blogs seamlessly integrate into your overall approach, converting casual readers into dedicated customers. You can repurpose blog content into social media posts, podcast episodes, live trainings, etc. Blogs can serve as a critical piece in your user experience, subtly guiding visitors towards conversions and sales.

3. Increase Your SEO

Blogging is arguably the most important thing you can do for your website’s SEO. Position your business as the go-to solution when your audience seeks answers. It’s not just about visibility; it’s about being seen by the right audience at the right moment. By increasing SEO in the long run, your website will receive more traffic which is never a bad thing!

4. Evergreen Longevity:

I am the first one to admit social media is important. In fact, it was my profession for nearly a decade. However, social media is more about entertainment and connection, and should not be the only pillar in your content strategy. Blog content lasts longer than the momentary buzz of a reel or a post. It’s an evergreen strategy where your insights, stories, and expertise stand the test of time, continually attracting new visitors and retaining loyal readers.

5. Own Your Space:

Unlike social media, where you’re merely renting space from companies like Facebook, your blog is completely your own. It lies outside of the influence of algorithms or platform changes.

So, there you have it – five compelling reasons to kickstart your business blog today. From driving traffic and linking to conversions and supercharging SEO, blogging isn’t just a strategy; it’s an essential way to grow your business. I am personally a fan of combining the power of Showit for designing my website with WordPress to maintain my blog. The two platforms connect seamlessly. You can learn more about Showit in my post here.
