Hi, I'm Erin

Many of us are working jobs that are not fulfilling and don’t align with our life purpose. I believe we all have unique skills and gifts that can be turned into a profitable business, and I’m on a mission to help people do just that! If you’re thinking about starting a business but not sure how to leverage your skills, I want to walk you through five steps that can help you begin to turn your passion into a profit.

Step 1: Craft Your Offer

We all do something better than most people. What comes naturally to you? It might be difficult to know at first because it comes so easily to you, you assume it’s easy for everyone else too! The first thing you need to do is figure out what your offer is. Identify your skill set or passion, such as graphic design, and structure an offer or offer suite around that skill set. It’s important to get clear on who your target audience is and craft an offer that solves a problem for them. Your offer should be irresistible and utilize your gift to help solve their problem.

Step 2: Create a Landing Page or Website

To make your services accessible to potential clients, you need to create a place where people can land and engage with your services. While having a website is ideal, you can start with a simple landing page. This landing page should provide information about your services and a way for people to get in touch with you or book your services. Avoid relying solely on social media platforms, as you have limited control over them and their algorithms are constantly changing. Building a website or using an email marketing platform allows you to own your audience and grow your list of potential clients.

Step 3: Create Free Valuable Resources

To build trust and showcase your skills, create free valuable resources for your target audience. This can look like educational social media posts, blog posts, YouTube videos, or free workshops. You can also create downloadable guides with advice and tips related to your specific niche. By providing valuable content, you establish yourself as an expert and help potential clients understand the value you can offer them. Don’t gatekeep here! It’s important to offer real value to people. They need to know what it would be like to work with you before they can book you.

Step 4: Connect Free Content to an Email List

To maximize the impact of your free content, connect it to an email list. Use an email marketing platform to collect email addresses and grow your audience of prospects, potential clients, and referrals. (Even if you’re not ready to start actually emailing them, you will regret not collecting emails from the beginning.) As you start building your reputation, maintaining a relationship with your audience through email marketing becomes crucial. Referrals can be a significant source of recurring revenue, so keeping in touch with past clients and keeping them updated on your work is essential.

Step 5: Create an Exceptional Client Experience

No matter what stage of business you’re in, providing an exceptional experience for your clients is crucial. Value yourself accordingly and leave a lasting impression on your clients, especially in the early stages of your business. Going above and beyond for your clients will not only lead to repeat customers but also generate positive word-of-mouth and referrals. Aim to create a wow factor for your clients by delivering exceptional results and exceeding their expectations. As your business grows, consider implementing systems to streamline the client experience, such as feedback forms, client gifts, and regular check-ins. However, in the beginning, focus on keeping it simple and ensuring that you are true to yourself and consistently deliver an exceptional experience.

Bonus Tip: Get Comfortable with Selling

Selling can sometimes feel uncomfortable, but it’s important to remember that you have something valuable to offer. Approach selling as a way to serve and support your potential clients. Believe in your ability to solve their problems, motivate and inspire them, and help them achieve their goals. Instead of thinking of it as selling, think of it as offering solutions and getting them closer to their dreams. Approach sales conversations with confidence and a sense of worth, knowing that you are bringing value to the table.

Turning your passion into a profitable business is possible; the most important thing is to BEGIN! Take action, even if it’s messy in the beginning. By following these five steps, you can start moving in the right direction. Craft your offer, create a landing page or website, provide free valuable resources, connect your content to an email list, and create an exceptional client experience. Remember to value yourself and approach selling as a way to serve and support your clients. With dedication and perseverance, you can turn your passion into a profitable venture.

Whether you’re considering starting a business or you’re already a business owner, I hope you find these insights helpful. Remember, every stage of business requires continuous learning and adaptation.
